Migraines

So I've been having terrible headaches for a very long time. YesterdayI finally decided after having a headache for 24 hours straight that I would go to the doctor and get a diagnosis of what it was and get some medicine for it. I figured that I was having Migraines, but like I said I've never been diagnosed with them, so I wasn't 100% sure what it was.
I worked half a day yesterday and then went to the doctor. Sure enough I am having Migraines. He gave me a prescription for Imitrex which is a medicine that you take once you feel a Migraine coming on. I took one last night before I went to bed. Let me just say that this medicine did not agree with me. An hour after I took it my heart started POUNDING. It felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. I was nauseous and sweating. I just laid in the floor and felt like I was dying. I was scared to death. I finally tried to go to bed, but all I did was toss and turn. I coudln't sleep.
At 4:00 this morning my heart was still beating rapidly. I didn't sleep a wink ,and by 5:00 a.m. I was physically exhausted! I couldn't hardly walk to the bathroom. I called the doctor first thing this morning and told the nurse my symptoms. She had the doctor call me back and he said that it is a rare side effect from the Imitrex that he had prescribed. GREAT!!!
Now the good thing is that my headache did go away, but there is NO WAY that I am taking that medicine again if I'm going to feel like that every time. The doctor told me to try taking 1/4 of the pill next time and hopefully the side effects won't be nearly as strong. He said that the pill was probably too strong. You think?!?!?! =)
So I missed half a day of work yesterday and a whole day today. It just sucks! I just started to come down from the medicine about 4:00 this afternoon. What a night! At least I know that I'm ok, and it's only a side effect. Just beware if you have migraines. This medicine is some powerful stuff!
